Uniting and celebrating Chin National Day

A day to be united

On the special day of 20th February, students and teachers of ACRLC alike celebrated Chin National Day.

Students from from our kindergarten classes all the way up to lower secondary came together to take part in a special and meaningful lesson. The lesson focused on the history of Chin National Day, exploring how this important occasion came to be and why it holds such deep significance for the Chin community and its people.

Following the lesson, students took part in a variety of fun and engaging hands-on activities designed to reinforce what they had learned. One of the highlights was colouring detailed illustrations of the Hornbill and the Rhododendron — the national bird and national flower of Chin State. These activities gave students the opportunity to connect more personally with the cultural symbols of Chin National Day, making the experience both educational and enjoyable.

Where celebrating meets compassion

Students from Grade 10b and the Extended programme volunteered as ushers during the Chin National Day celebration, held at Dewan SJK(C) Chung Kwo. They played an important role in guiding guests and ensuring the event ran smoothly and in an organised manner.

A celebration like this is more than just a single day — it is a reminder of who we are and where we come from. From the youngest kindergarteners carefully coloring the wings of the Hornbill, to the older students standing tall as ushers at a community hall, all of us had participated and gained new knowledge and experience.
