A memorial day to have fun on the run
The KL City Day Half Marathon 2026 was a spectacular event that brought the entire city to life. This year was particularly meaningful as it celebrated a 10-year milestone. For a full decade, this race has been a highlight for local runners, and this anniversary edition was the biggest one yet, set right in the glowing heart of Kuala Lumpur.
To celebrate this special occasion, students from our Running Club took on the ultimate challenge: the 21km Half Marathon. This is a long and demanding distance that requires great endurance and mental strength. Our students rose to the challenge, running through the city’s most famous streets and neighborhoods, proving that hard work and practice really pay off. It wasn’t just a race; it was a day of personal triumphs and great memories.
The Route
The 21km course was a massive loop that connected the city’s most famous transit points and landmarks. Here is the step-by-step journey the students took:
The Starting Point: The race began with high energy at the iconic KLCC station.
The Early Stretch: Runners first headed toward Ampang Park before doing a U-turn to pass KLCC for a second time.
Through the City Heart: The path then stretched out toward Dang Wangi, Sultan Ismail, and the vibrant streets of Chow Kit.
The Toughest Climb: Next, the runners faced the famous slopes of Bukit Tunku. This hilly section is known for being the most challenging part of the route, testing everyone’s stamina.
The Home Stretch: After conquering the hills, the path led down toward the historic Masjid Jamek and through the busy business district of Raja Chulan.
The Grand Finale: After a long and rewarding 21km journey, the students finally arrived back at KLCC to cross the finish line and celebrate their achievement.
In short, our Running Club students successfully conquered a 21km route that looped through the very best of Kuala Lumpur. Starting and ending at KLCC, they navigated city streets, climbed the hills of Bukit Tunku, and passed historic landmarks like Masjid Jamek. It was a day defined by perseverance, team spirit, and the joy of celebrating 10 years of city running.
